My First Art Show Experience

Well I'm taking a side trip this time with my blog and talking about my experience yesterday with my very first art show. The wonderful folks in the booth next to me, Debra Riegling and her husband (Bloomers and Hearts), were seasoned sellers, having been doing it for 20 years. Debra said she put three children through college doing shows. I found that so cool to work so hard doing what you love and being able to put three children through college along the way! They were selling the most wonderful children's furniture that her husband made and she painted so beautifully! Very cool stuff.
All in all I consider my first experience a success. The traffic (from what I understand) wasn't as high as it could have been simply because it was the 4th of July holiday. It was the most beautiful surroundings on the lawn of an old mansion in DeKalb, Illinois. There were many trees of all sizes and varieties. Though ... the weather was too hot for me (I pretty much don't like the high heat and humidity). We were rain-free until 4:00 p.m. when the sky opened up. We were able to keep all my stuff dry under the tent and made mad dashes to the van and packed it all up in 30 minutes. Whew!
