Defining a Word Through Fine Art

I'm using this blog post to bring attention to the fine art world on etsy by choosing one word and posting how different artists present it through their work.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.  -John F. Kennedy
When we say "War is over if you want it," we mean that if everyone demanded peace instead of another TV set, we'd have peace.-John Lennon
And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I'll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today, 'cuz there ain't no doubt I love this land, god bless the USA. -Lee Greenwood
Peace is more important than all justice; and peace was not made for the sake of justice, but justice for the sake of peace. -Martin Luther

With Memorial Day is this weekend I thought I'd highlight those images from an array of artists on Etsy that convey their own interpretation.

So this week's word is ... "Memory or Memorial"

  1. Wow! What an honor to be included with such great artwork. Thank you so much for including GeeJay Creations' "Vietnam Soldier" montage and poem. I do the design and my friend Gale writes the poetry, she will be thrilled to find this out.

And what a great blog you've got going here. I'll be back often! Thanks again... Jaime

As always you've done a bang-up job defining your word through the visual arts. Very appropriate word! Great series!

  7. Oh these are beautiful along with such powerful quotes.
Even though I am a Canadian, remembering our soldiers is near & dear to my heart. I have created a few pieces that honour those who sacrifice so much so that I may have the life I have.
    A wonderful and touching series!
